One common use case is to select an outlet location (or downstream watershed) and request data for the watershed area upstream of this location. This has been specifically requested by the HydroFrame team. While there are many ways to address this, one approach is to use the USGS NLDI web services for tracing the NHD river network. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/blog/nldi-intro/
