If you send a message in the normal way, it's saved in the history. This is convenient, because you can use the up arrow to repeat the smileys you recently sent or partially start another message instead of writing the whole thing.
But alas, this doesn't work if you send a message via the repeat message command. You get a holey message history and break the habit. It seems that you need the message history to have all the messages for a session there, but in fact the message history won't have all the messages you've sent.
I don't see how you can benefit from this behavior, but the inconvenience is obvious.
