Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues and checked the recent builds/commits

What would your feature do ?

Just some ideas. Since there are many complains about the new floating menu, I would suggest the following:

Menu options:

In settings you can choose between:

Fixed Floating Menu with auto-hide and pinning feature:

  • When users are in 🛠️ "building mode" and need more space to edit the workflow, the Fixed Floating Menu can auto-hide down the screen.

    • The menu pops-up when the cursor goes down, like many OS menu bars.
  • When users are in ⏯️ "queueing mode" and start generating, the Fixed Floating Menu can be pinned to disable auto-hide.

Draggable Floating Menu with only pinning feature:

There is a handle and you can position the Draggable Floating Menu wherever you want. The pinning feature introduced in the auto-hide can be used to fix the menu in a specific canvas position.

I think this way, both users that love and hate the new menu should be happy (ahah just kidding, they will complain anyway).

In alternative to the auto-hide feature in the Fixed Floating Menu, there could be a Hide/Show toggle button.
With this feature:

  • There is no need of the pinning feature in this mode (only useful in Draggable mode).
  • There are no risks of accidental triggering that would make the menu pop-up when moving the cursor.
