Hierarchical Structures

All the attendees were already a fairly experienced programmers, so in the early chapters Sussman and Abelson's more philosophical sections caught our attention more than the practical parts, and our conversations tended heavily in that direction. Anything not captured in the weekly recap messages has disappeared into the ephemeral abyss.

weekly recap message

Greetings and felicitations!

We had a great meeting last Friday, with extended discussions of the foundations of mathematics, Haskell's type system, higher order data abstractions and *morphisms.

For this next meeting we'll be tackling 2.2.3 as well as 2.2.4, the much ballyhooed "picture language". Should be a lot of fun!

There's a new experiments directory in the github repo for extended work inspired by the reading (or anything else). Check out the existing programs and add some of your own!

Happy coding!
