I'm still getting familiar with this fantastic piece of software! And would like to use it more extensively, but, there are a couple of things I'd like to find out about.
Disabling Galnet News. I'm not really interested in hearing the Galnet news as I enter a system. I'd like to disable this but the "Enabled" checkbox is grayed out in the "Text-to-Speach" section. I'm trying to concentrate on not flying into the sector' sun so I don't pay any mind to the Galnet news & quite honestly, I'd really rather read it on my own. How do I disable that?
The pronunciation of the word "Ensign". Microsoft Zira pronounces it as "En-SIGN" not "Ensin". Is there a way to alter that? If so, how?
Thanks for this software! I'm loving it each time I use it!
The Galnet News script you see in the Speech Responder tab is triggered by a VoiceAttack command indicating to read the news, it won't trigger without being invoked by the user. The Galnet news published script is triggered by an event (an update to the Galnet RSS feed) but that one can be disabled. Alternately, you are free to disable the entire Galnet Monitor tab if you wish.
Voices differ in how they pronounce words (and may apply regional pronunciations that may not align well with your region). There are a few ways to address this. The first is to try another voice and see if it suits you better (you can install additional voice packages to add additional voices to Windows). The second is to alter the Honorific script to include a special phonetic pronunciation for "Ensign". The third more advanced method would be to use a lexicon file as described here.
