Role and event names tend to accept non-alphanumeric input

At the moment, most of our strings aren't sanitised for "unsafe" characters, allowing things like markdown formatting symbols and emoji to make their way into things like role and event names. This isn't harmful on the surface, but it can make roles and events difficult to ping and reference in commands. Thoughts?
