We could use more discussion of the choices here. In particular, students are asked to fill in 20.5 initial infected with no comment on where that comes from. The two fill-ins are conspicuously trivial, although maybe still better than code that Just Runs.
S0 was chosen so that R_eff starts just above 1 (leading to a substantial short-term effect of vital dynamics). So far this is not used pedagogically in the lab or in the wrap-up.
