A Faster Parabolic π¨π¨
Beta 3 of V2024.9.0 is here!
Compared to beta 2, this release adds a new Download Immediately After Validation
option to preferences and fixes an issue where the UI was not being displayed in translated languages.
We recommend uninstalling any and all previous versions of Parabolic before installing and trying this beta.
This is a beta version, bugs are expected. Please file a bug report for any issue found.

- The length of the kept download history can now be changed in the app's preferences
- Cookies can now be fetched from a selected browser in Preferences instead of selecting a TXT cookies file
- Parabolic's Keyring module was rewritten. As a result, all keyrings have been reset and will need to be reconfigured
- Parabolic will now correctly recognize audio languages with audio description and handle them separately from audio languages without audio description
- Parabolic will now place playlist downloads into a subdirectory with the playlist's title within the chosen save folder
- Added the option to allow for immediate download after a URL is validated
- Fixed validation issues with various sites
- Fixed an issue where a specified video password was not being used
- Redesigned user interface

This update features a brand new rewrite of Parabolic in C++. Users should now see a faster and more stable downloading experience, with the continued reliable and customizable features loved by our users.
We have also redesigned the user interfaces on both the GNOME and Windows platforms users to make it easier to find the features you love and want to use.
Besides new things, we have fixed tons of bugs throughout the downloading backend that users have been waiting for.

A Long Awaited Parabolic Update βοΈ
After some time, Parabolic 2024.5.0 is here! This update only contains some minor fixes as well as updates to all of the app's dependencies.

Compared to beta 1, we removed psutil as a dependency allowing Windows 10 users to properly install the app. We also fixed an issue where preferring AV1 codec would not properly select av1 videos.

Windows + Other Features + Fixes πͺ
V2023.11.0 is here!
This release introduces a brand-new Windows app! We've been hard at work this month creating a Windows version of Parabolic using WinUI 3 and the WindowsAppSDK and we are very happy with it. We've worked out issues that we have had in the past with WinUI, i.e distributing the app via the Microsoft Store, and are able to publish an exe app installer just like traditional Windows applications! Try it out below :)
Besides the new Windows version, Parabolic has gained many features and fixes regarding subtitles, url validation, and quality selection of downloads. Read about it all below!

Compared to release candidate 1, this release includes the update to yt-dlp 2023.11.16. On GNOME, the addition of an Open File
button to the desktop notification that is sent when the window is inactive and a download completes. On WinUI, the desktop notification itself can be clicked to open the file.
