I think it would be nice to incrementally, at least, start moving some of the items from the standard operating procedures into an automated workflow.

One possible suggestion from a library perspective is using https://airflow.incubator.apache.org/

Perhaps we could use this issue to outline a functional spec that would be required to effectively do that. What obstacles exist that might make this difficult/impossible? What gotchas exist that need to be taken into account etc...

Once such a list exists, we can look at implementation difficulty factor.

Thoughts?

Hi Kyle. I think this is an interesting suggestion and we're definitely interested in automating the aspects of this process that make sense. The first quarterly update will be in December at which time we'll get a better understanding of what the process looks like (particularly the human aspect) so that we can then establish what we can feasibly automate.

@longhotsummer - cool. So would you advocate to keep this open until then and perhaps hack on an 'On Hold' label or something similar.
