Can't detect/control 3rd GPU fan #2775
-
I have an EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra, which has 3 fans. I know FanControl normally detects 2 fans and that typically fan #3 simply follows the same speed as #2, but that doesn't seem to be the case with my card. I can control 2 of the fans with separate controls in FanControl, but the third fan will still use whatever speed it was set to within EVGA Precision X1. I was thinking maybe it just wasn't showing the speed correctly in X1, so I set the speed of the fans to 0% in X1 before setting FanControl to take over control of the fans. The first two span up to the speed I'd set, but the third still showed 0%. I looked inside the case and verified it, still only 2 fans spinning. Have I perhaps set this up wrong so that X1 is still forcing control of the third fan, or maybe EVGA fans are controlled in some different manner? |

Well, now I feel kinda stupid. After posting this, I then mucked around with changing settings in X1, enabling/disabling control within FanControl, etc.. At first it was acting the same as before, but at some point I noticed that fan #3 was changing. It was slow, but after a few seconds it would start to slowly shift its speed toward whatever #2 was set to. It'd then take several seconds more to eventually reach it, but was definitely setting itself to the same speed. |

Somehow this wasn't how it was working before, since the time it took me to get #1 and #2 spinning and #3 stopped and then crawl on the floor with a light to check the fans manually was more than enough for #3 to also match …
