DS4Windows: PS4 showing as Xbox controller #2431
-
Hello, I just bought a PS4 controller so that I can use it to play GTA Online. I heard from various threads that I use DS4Windows so that I can use it properly. And it did, my PS4 controller works fine on GTA an issue that I have though is that it is showing Xbox controller buttons. Is it always like this? or did I do something wrong? If this question was already answered then forgive me but I tried almost all the threads that I've seen so far. |

Yeah, people really need to start reading the README of the projects they use. DS4Windows works by associating real controllers (your DS4) to fake / virtual / emulated controllers it creates on the system (virtual Xbox or virtual DS4). Because most games support only xbox controllers, on default settings DS4Windows does Xbox Controller emulation and therefore games detect it as such. You can switch to DS4 emulation but most game don't support DS4 controllers / don't have PS button icons. Also, rumble and the "Lightbar passthru" function (rare function that allow games to change the controller's lightbar) are disabled for now when doing DS4 emulation because of some issues that have no prevision to be fixed. For more info (I highly recommend you reading the following links, even if it looks like too much text) |

GTA 5 / GTA Online is a weird case. The game does properly bind input from a DS4 to the same mapping used for an Xbox 360 controller. However, the game will always show Xbox button glyphs no matter which controller you are using. I have barely played GTA 5 but I would probably just chose to emulate an Xbox 360 controller rather than emulate a DS4 just to be presented with Xbox buttons on the HUD. |
