Pros:

Full API access and data only has to be loaded once
Better Neos UI integration
Get rid of some legacy code from before React UI times
Easier for future development

Cons:

Staying "in the Yoast view" is probably harder to implement, or needs a different approach (if still needed)
Quite some work -> sponsorship would be great
