I can't comment on the pylibCZIrw-behavior in this respect, but on libCZI-level the situation is something like:

  • First of all, what is found in the extracted XML is "metadata", i. e. description of the data (found in the CZI), so the fields "SizeX"/"SizeY" are what they are (or what the creator of the document has put into them).
  • The information retrieved by ISubBlockRepository::GetStatistics is derived from "data" (not "metadata"), and if you check the structure there are results for "two completely reasonable ways of calculating the bounding-box (which nevertheless give slightly different results)".
