Why is _ns_select_doh() executed twice after entering the function __check_txt()?

In __check_txt()

 _ns_select_doh

 _answers="$(_ns_lookup "$_c_aliasdomain" TXT)"

and in _ns_lookup()

_ns_lookup() {

  _ns_select_doh

  if [ "$DOH_USE" = "$DOH_CLOUDFLARE" ] || [ -z "$DOH_USE" ]; then

so _ns_select_doh() is executed twice, and added four additional http calls.

_ns_select_doh can be executed anytimes. It has a re-enter guard:

  if [ -z "$DOH_USE" ]; then
