Is the first call to Algolia done at the autocomplete init or at the search field focus ?

in autocomplete it's done at the first character or focus if openOnFocus is true :)

@kevinkulla In getSources(), you can return an empty array to not trigger a query:

autocomplete({
  // ...
  getSources({ query }) {
    if (!query) {
      return [];
    }
  },
});

Thank you!! I was trying to return null and getting an error. I didn't think to return an empty array.

yes you can add a condition in the getItems() of a source, just before you return getAlgoliaResults()
