Install App From App Center

1. Create an App Center account

We will use App Center to download the app to our mobile device. Users familiar with Xamarin are welcome to download the source code in this GitHub repo and manually build/deploy the iOS/Android app using Visual Studio on PC or Visual Studio for Mac

1. Navigate to https://appcenter.ms
2. Choose Continue with GitHub, Continue with Microsoft, Facebook, Google, or Create a new account to create a new account

2. Register for the App Center Group: Xamarin IoT Workshop

Each attendee will need to register

1. Send me an email
   • To: Brandon.Minnick@Microsoft.com
   • Subject: Xamarin IoT Workshop App Center Registration Request
   • Body: [Blank]
2. Standby as I manually add each participant to the App Center distribution group
3. Once I have registered you, you will receive an email from App Center
4. In the email from App Center, tap Accept Invitation
   • This will open a link in your browser

5. In the browser page that opened automatically, tap Accept Invitation

3a. Download App (Android)

If you have an iOS Device, continue to step 3b. Download App (iOS)

Note: The Download/Installation steps below may differ slightly for each Android device

1. On your Android device, open Chrome
2. In Chrome on your Android device, navigate to the App Center installation page: https://install.appcenter.ms
3. On the installation page, if prompted, sign in

4. On the App Center Installation Page, scroll down and locate Xamarin IoT Workshop, Android
5. On the App Center Installation Page, tap Xamarin IoT Workshop, Android

6. On the Android download page, select Download

7. On the Downloading... page, select Download

8. Stand by until the download has completed

9. After the download has completed, select Open

10. On the Android Install page, select Install

11. Standby until the app has finished installing

12. Once the installation has finished, select OPEN

3b. Download App (iOS)

If you have an Android Device, skip this step.

1. On your iOS device, open Safari
2. In Safari on your iOS device, navigate to the App Center installation page: https://install.appcenter.ms
3. On the installation page, if prompted, sign in

4. Once signed-in, on the installation page, select + Add Device

5. On the iOS prompt, select Allow which will open the Settings app on iOS

6. In the Settings app, select Install

7. If prompted, enter your device's lock-screen passcode

8. On the popup confirmation, select Install

9. Once the installation has completed, the device will return you back to the App Center Install page in Safari
10. On the installation page in Safari, tap on Xamarin IoT Workshop, iOS

11. On the installation page, tap Get.

12. Stand by while App Center prepares the app for download
    • Note: This may take 5-10 minutes

13. Once prepartation has finished, tap Install

14. The app is now installing to the iOS home screen
