[SOLVED] How do I hide the ticks on a polar area chart?

Hey all,
I have this polar area chart for displaying my weather station's wind data:

My question is, what are the gray boxes and numbers? Ticks? If so, why does doing options → scales → ticks (or → y → ticks>) → display: false, not work to hide them like it usually does for charts?

I found a solution. Rather than configuring ticks for a typical x or y axis, I have configured ticks for the r axis (radial).

options: {
    scales: {
      r: {
        ticks: {
          display: false,
        },
      },
    },
  },

This code hides the ticks as desired:
