App is sometimes disconnected when it's sleeping too long on mobile

I save the page as an embedded app on my home screen. When it sleeps the app or the browser for too long, and I come back, sometimes it doesn't automatically reconnect. My guess is this can be resolved by better leveraging our websocket library. We use this library https://github.com/gorilla/websocket for websockets but we have some manual reconnect code because I think we aren't using it properly.
