Using a different input channel #190
-
Hello, first and foremost I would like to thank you for your hard work, I've been looking for an alternative to ASIO4ALL as my UMC22 does not come with its own drivers (unfortunately). I sometimes wish Windows had the plug-&-play experience of MacOS, but I digress. My inquiry is the following, I am only able to use channel 1, otherwise my DAW will not detect any audio. I have my guitar connected to channel 2, as channel 1 is used by my microphone, meaning I have to swap them if I want to use either one of them, but never both at the same time. Is there a way to use them both at the same time or at the very least select the 2nd channel? AFAIK FlexASIO does not support multiple hardware inputs, but I am not sure if that's just me fundamentally misunderstanding the explanations and me happening to experience the exact same scenario. Thanks in advance! |

Think of FlexASIO like any other standard Windows audio application. Just like any other Windows audio application, it can record any number of channels from a single Windows audio endpoint device (i.e. a device you see listed in the Windows audio settings). If your hardware device exposes both channels as a single stereo Windows audio device, then you should be able to point FlexASIO at that device and record both channels simultaneously (assuming it is indeed configured as 2-channel in the Windows audio device settings). You can also check using any other Windows audio recording app (such as Audacity). If you can reproduce the problem with other apps, then it's not a FlexASIO issue - instead it's an issue with your device channel settings, the driver, or the hardware itself. |
