  • Tried latest version

  • This issue is not duplicated with any other open or closed issues

Describe the bug

For some reason, the app won't update yt-dlp to the latest version, which is 2024.12.06 as I'm writing this. It still thinks that 2024.11.18 is the latest.

Expected behavior

The app would detect the latest yt-dlp version and update to it.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to settings > Updating
  2. The app doesn't update yt-dlp to latest version despite having "Auto-Update" enabled
  3. Clicking on "yt-dlp Version" or "Install new version of yt-dlp" just returns "Downloading new version" and "Using the latest version"

Device information

  • OnePlus 7 Pro
  • Android 15

Screenshots / Recordings

No response

Additional context

Auto-updating used to work just fine in the past, this issue started to occur recently.

I actually managed to update to 2024.12.06 by switching to nightly then to master (both installed fine). Then, I switched back to stable and it installed 2024.12.06 over master.

Keeping this open as it might still be a relevant bug, may it still won't update to next version next time.

2024.12.13 has been released. Upon opening ytdlnis, I got a toast notification saying that 2024.11.18 was installed.

Settings > Updating > yt-dlp Version says 2024.12.06. Clicking it says "Using the latest version" so the issue persists.

Uninstalled the app, re-installed it (1.8.1.2).
yt-dlp Source is set to "Stable version of yt-dlp" (default), yet 2024.12.12.232950 (nightly) was installed instead.

@xfzv this is my mistake, i made the source nightly if the source was never set in fresh install. I fixed it now
