Detecting usage of the same verb in paragraph

Reading quite a few papers, one common style problem is authors using the same verb in multiple sentences within the same paragraph. ("First it shows that. Then it shows something else. We did foo. Afterwards it shows.." you get the idea).
I'm wondering whether it is currently possible to detect this.

As far as my knowledge goes only using an extension to sequence would provide me with verb detection (tags). But can it be configured to only detect the same verb?

I thought about something like this:

message: "Repeated verbs"
tokens:
  - tag: VB|VBN
  - pattern: [\s\w'',]*[.;:!?][\s\w'',]
  - tag: VB|VBN

But it looks like, this does not limit to the same verb.

No, there's currently no way to restrict matches to the same verb without hard-coding the actual word.

This shouldn't be too hard to add, though.
