Steps to reproduce the problem

  • Add two emojis from the picker after one another, remove the space, and toot.

Expected behaviour

Emojis are added with a zero-width-space and space.

Actual behaviour

The added emojis adds a space between, but no zero-width-space like previous Mastodon versions

Detailed description

During our new upgrade we noticed the emoji picker no longer inserts a zero-width-space after the emoji. This is an issue for instances like ours that use multi part emojis. You can still manually add ZWS from a character picker, but that's non-ideal.

Suggesting either adjusting the behavior to how Misskey/Akkoma handles emojis, where ZWS is not required. Or, adding ZWS back to the emoji insert function. The latter most likely being the easiest.
