Discovery should be protocol independent:

  • UPnP
  • AirPlay
  • MPD (Music Player Daemon)
  • ...

The server must be able to discover devices which support the various protocols.
The API for such a renderer must abstract from the underlying protocol so that we can play on any device no matter which protocol is used.
