Currently, when another modifier (i.e. shift) is held down, you lose the ability to tap for Esc.

Is there a reason for this, or a reason it can't continue to have tap-to-esc/hold-to-ctrl even when another modifier like shift is held down?

No. This isn't an intentional choice. 😇

I can't think of a time when I've personally needed to trigger escape in conjunction with another modifier key, but I'd welcome a pull request that enables that functionality.

Command-Option-Escape is another example of something I'm currently unable to do (this is the native Force Quit Applications shortcut in macOS).

I'd love to PR but (currently) I don't really know what I'm doing. 😆

I need to press capital O in vim to insert the line above and then may need to escape after that but the escape key doesnt work in this case.
