I was reading about vector databases and how langchain has an interface to use either
chromadb
orqdart
. According to their documentation, they gather telemetry data on how users use the package (anonymized logs, errors, and stuff), which is used by developers as feedback to improve their packages. This feature is turned on by default but can be turned off by users. At least with European data privacy regulations, users should be informed that their data is being collected. Everyone that uses langchain installs it viapip install langchain
, and there is no signing of any terms and agreement.I was wondering if anyone knows how this works out from a legal point of view when using langchain as an interface.
