There seem to be some TODOs in the code about this. Just creating a ticket to track its progress if you don't mind.

No problem - as I've told others, I'm sort of hoping for a PR here -
it's not really high on my TODO list :\

I too would like to see SASL/GSSAPI support. If configured correctly, the ldapsearch CLI utility can search after a kinit without having to provide an URL or credentials, and I would like to see node-ldapjs do that too, if possible. BTW, thanks for all the hard work you've done on this module!

#473 is an implementation. It just needs some attention.

I don't know. I have not investigated the two terms enough to say that they are the same.
