Noise Gate Prototype

Based on the VUmeter included in the library I found easy to create a noise gate. Something like this:

if (getVuMeterVal(idx) < 0.00001) { //This acts as the threshold
    vol = vol - 0.008; //Changing this value the volume falling faster or slower
  } else if (getVuMeterVal(idx) >= 0.00001) {
    vol = vol + 0.07; //Changing this value the volume rising faster or slower
  }

//The limits
  if (vol >= 1.0) {
    vol = 1.0;
  }
  if (vol <= 0.0) {
    vol = 0.0;
  }

  for (int n = 0; n < SAMPLE_BUFFER_SIZE; n++) {
    audio[n] = audio[n] * vol; //Here is the copy of the buffer with the noise gate multiplicator.
  }

I had to modify the tail of the VUmeter to make it real time. It works well but has room to improve. It's just an idea.

I see, that would work. I never thought about a noise gate but might be useful for the external audio input. Thank you very much for sharing

The thing is, since the VUmeter acts as a voltage follower is easy to use it to make things like compressors, peak limiters, clipping, noise gates, maybe ADSRs and any other stuff that needs triggers to work. I see a lot of potential here. Thank you for your amazing work!
