I have went though this "swap" last year (but unfortunately I can't remember the details) - at least I believe, that I did not change anything in my integration, nor in my setup/ha... The new meter just provide way less entities then the previous one (so since the swap I have some orphan sensors in HA (that's why I think, that I did not change anything)) - so the overall process was anyhow a real downer for me - despite the fact, that it also took the energy provide +4 weeks to provide me with the code to unlock the optical interface... So actually I did not change anything after the meter was swapped - but my energy dashboard does not use the local_tibber entity [I have an additional enfluri that provide me with "my data"... So to make a long story short - there is IMHO nothing you can/must prepare - since there is also nothing you can do on your side to change/prepare for a better situation/result. |

Is there a recommended way to do a change of the utility meter?
My meter will be swapped out for a new one soon which means the serial-number will change and the counter will drop from like 45000 to something really low (close to zero).
Will the tibber local integration create a new device because of the changed serial number? or will it just feed the lower numbers to the same device and entities?
If it creates a new device I guess I could just add this new device to the energy dashboard (then I would have 2 "from grid" devices - the old defunct one and the new one and everything should be fine.
However if it will reset the counter for the existing device I'm not sure what will happen with the energy dashboard.
Any ideas?
