Reporter Info

  • Materia version: 20200916-0.2 (+ latest)
  • GTK3 version: 3.24.24
  • Distribution (and version): Debian 11
  • Desktop environment (and version): Mate 1.24
  • Related application (and version): OpenOffice 4.5 (+ previous)

Actual Issue
GUI repaint errors (graphic artefacts) in all single-line textbox widgets. Makes the software unusable.
The issue happens in all textboxes and editable comboboxes but not in the documents/databases/spreadsheets themselves. All controls inside the Settings window have the same issue.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Enable Materia;
  2. Start any tool of the OpenOffice suite;
  3. Write into any textbox control:
    => graphical artefacts will accumulate during editing;
  4. Minimize and maximize the window:
    => the artefacts will be cleared from the GUI buffer temporarily.

Additional Info
Disabling the adaptive compositor (Marco) has no impact.
OpenOffice is the only application showing this incompatibility with Materia.
The issue is present only when Materia is the active theme and switching theme solves the issue immediately.

The latest version is 20210322.

@AdsonCicilioti as implied by the 20200916-0.2 (+ latest) annotation on the bug report, before reporting this issue I've also tested version 20210322-1 (which is part of Debian testing and unstable) by manually installing the appropriate deb package. I confirm the bug affects both stable and latest version.
