......just don't forget to copy the config files or necessary files from its home
......directory to edit/etc/skel or back them up somewhere to use later.

......To update the repository: apt-get update
......To upgrade the software packages: apt-get upgrade
......To install a software/package: apt-get install package_name
......To reinstall a software/package: apt-get install --reinstall package_name

......To install from install.sh file: ./install.sh or path_to_the_file.sh
......To install form a file install: ./install
......To install from configure make: ./configure && make && make install
......To add a ppa: add-apt-repository ppa
......After adding all ppa: apt-get update
......To remove a software: apt-get remove package_name
......To completely remove a software: apt-get purge package_name
......To remove a ppa: add-apt-repository --remove ppa
......After removing ppa: apt-get update
......To remove softwares installed by other means rather than apt-get, aptitude or dpkg, delete the corresponding folders/files.
......To view installed packages run:
dpkg-query -W --showformat='\${Installed-Size}\t\${Package}\n' | sort -nr | less
or run:
dpkg --get-selections | grep -v deinstall
