Creating a Blueprint for Popular Music

The rise of streaming made it easier than ever to access and find new music, making popular music more diverse. This however also makes for a less centralised music landscape, resulting in a blurry defnition of what popular music actually constitutes. Using Spotify’s own published charts and their information on a song’s audio features, as well as lyrics, we want to examine the possibility of creating a daily updated blueprint of what makes a song popular based on its production and lyrical content.
