Tuesday Meeting with Professor Kapfhammer on the 5th of SeptemberI had a discussion with Prof Kapfhammer on what I should do for my comp as I changed my topic from my junior seminar class to something more feasible and manageable. Him & I discussed certain topics and in the end we agreed that our topic should looks something in that outline: "How does this X affect the Y overall"? |

Tuesday's Meeting with my advisor Kapfhamer on the 12th of SeptemberToday, I had another discussion with Professor Kapfhammer about the COMP topic because my previous research topic was something like training an AI Model to predict the stock prices of companies but I knew it was not feasible due to me having only a few months to learn the fundamentals of A.I, so he encouraged me to do something with test cases and how it affects. However, I had something in mind, and I decided to see my ECON advisor |

Preparation before seeing my Economics Advisor Bianco on the following ThursdayI spent the entirety of Tuesday and Wednesday looking at academic computer science papers on Google Scholars and ACM Library. So far, I wrote my research questions on a doc I was interested in and decided to put what sources or data I could find for each topic because I remembered Prof Kapfhammer emphasize the importance of data if one wants to work with data especially if you have a topic like "How X,Y,Z affect the variable B?" Thus, I started to look for questions that had a similar structure. |

The following Thursday's office hour with Professor Bianco | September 14thI spoke to him and he encouraged me to look more and see if data is available for my topics I should consult FRED. Also, that same day in my ECON Junior seminar class we had an insightful Zoom session with Allegheny alumni, Alex and Jack. They shared their experiences from their comps a few years ago. Their advice was straightforward: pinpoint our interests in the field, and immerse ourselves in articles and papers. They emphasized the value of learning from these resources. For our research, they recommended prioritizing quality data and highlighted QRdata and CPS data as reliable sources, in addition to FRED. |

Hello @tuduun, your research notebook does not contain a sufficient number of entries and it does not meet all of the baseline requirements for a research notebook in Computer Science. I encourage you to carefully review the syllabus and its statement of the baseline requirements for a research notebook. Let's meet at the start of the upcoming semester so that we can review your notebook entries and develop a plan for significant improvement in the second half of your double senior comprehensive project. See you soon! |

Hello @tuduun, your research notebook for the Spring 2024 semester does not furnish evidence that it meets the baseline requirements set forth in the syllabus for the CS/SE/INF/DS 610 course. |

This space will be dedicated to my research and the findings of my personal project.
Project Idea:
There have been huge numbers of recent layoffs in the tech industry, and I wanted to analyze "how this tech layoff in 2023 affects the unemployment rates as a whole & what are the factors affecting the layoffs?" My analysis will be more focused on Economics as I will run linear regression and find out if there is any significance in the variables I find. But there are many steps to accomplish this.
