The verb to give is very important in English, and is no different in Latin.
Often, dare is accompanied with a noun in the dative case, as something is being given to something else. Here's an example:
"cras, ad palatium ibo nostra dona regi et reginae dare." - "Tomorrow, I will go to the palace to give our gifts to the king and queen."
Dare is mostly a regular verb, except for its perfect stem, which is dedi, not like how you would expect davi:
"epistulam nuntio dederam, sed non redivit." - "I had given the letter to the messanger, but he did not return."
dare is also fully regular in the passive voice:
"mox, servus libertas dabitur." - "Soon, the slave will be given freedom".
"post bello, multi bellatores numismam dati sunt." - "After the war, many warriors were given medals."
