bitwork difficulty and mining hardware

Sorry if this is not the place to talk about this, but i just haven't been able to find anyone who can clearly answer these questions for me.

a) in the ARC20 token data structure, how do i interpret the bitworkc: field? For example, for quark token, it reads "bitworkc": "aabbcc" . can i infer the difficulty based on what it says there?

b) what type of hardware specs would result in the fastest bitwork mining speed?

actually just read through the bitwork section of the readme file. So quark token has 6 hex digits in the bitworkc field, but i have had mints that took probably no more than 1-2 hours. definitely not 4 hours. this is on my macbook with M1 pro chip. On my work desktop windows computer, it was mining for almost 48 hours and still didn't finish....is that normal? what are the specific aspects of hardware that will boost performance for this mining?
