Copy Folder from Source to Installations Folder (v3.11.2.4516) #6286

Hello,

I want to copy a folder from the TargetDir to the Installationsfolder
(C:\Program Files (x86)\ParcelProof App\plugins). I want to concat the INSTALLFOLDER with \plugins what i have created before

The plugin folder are created but is empty!

But in my Source the plugins folder are full with elements.

I use the v3.11.2.4516 Version of WIX and i use it in the WPF Framwork.

Did you try the -cg switch?

If you want a fully supported solution that works (IMHO) significantly better than heat.exe, you might take a look at FireGiant's WiX Expansion Pack. The advanced harvesting feature (doc) in the WiX Expansion Pack is very easy to use (and support is included in your purchase).

An MSI is an installation database which typically contains all the files it is to deploy.
As such the WiX must contain details of each file that is to be deployed.
If you have a complex file structure to deploy you can use the heat tool to generate WiX fragments for you to include in your project.
Usually this is only run once and then maintained by hand for subsequent releases but people are known to automate it as part of a build.

My structure is like

plugins\folder in folder some dll´s.

Heat tool is not well documented and their is no example outside.

I have getting some errors with your command.
My command is now

"$(WIX)bin\heat.exe" dir "$(SolutionDir)AntiWilsonApp\bin\Release\libvlc\win-x86\plugins" -gg -sfrag -template:fragment -sreg suppress registry harvesting -out $(SolutionDir)\SetupProject1\plugins.wxs

And its works !

But now how i can add the plugins.wxs to Product.wxs ??
