Improving Oxen's Hiring Process #52
Comments
Update: Might also be a good idea to reach out to VCs like A.Capital for hiring advice, they invested in privacy technology like https://aztec.network/, they might be interested in mentoring startups like Oxen or even investing in Oxen's privacy technology as well.

Good write again @venezuela01 I should probably make a separate issue for this, but it goes under the same umbrella of human resources and capitalizing on it. |
Improving Oxen's Hiring Process
ORC-8 highlights the challenges of hiring talent, identifying Oxen's status as a privacy token as one of the main factors.
This proposal addresses the remaining reasons, focusing on opportunities to enhance the current Oxen hiring process, which presently lacks sufficient exposure.
The communication regarding the hiring status of the Oxen team is currently not obvious. Many companies include a 'career' or 'join us' link on their official websites, something that could be adopted by Oxen across sites like oxen.io, getsession.org, lokinet.org, or optf.ngo, which have over 200k visitors per month. By utilizing platforms like Twitter (over 80k followers combined), Reddit, and the readonly update channels (over 15k subscribers combined), Oxen can leverage the existing following and traffic to promote hiring opportunities more effectively.
By incorporating multiple channels for job advertisements, Oxen could bridge the communication gap with potential applicants and tap into a broader audience.
Even with a broad reach through Oxen's official websites, Twitter, and community channels, reaching the ideal candidates is not assured. A simple call to action, asking community members to share hiring information, can greatly extend the network, embracing more potential talents.
Leveraging community relationships to share hiring needs can create a more robust and effective network for finding suitable candidates.
Potential referral bonus paid in Oxen could further incentives community members to engage in the hiring process.
The Oxen team's weekly updates often highlight successes but leave out open challenges. However, many skilled talents are drawn to both vision and challenges. Regularly publishing these challenges, along with successes, can make Oxen more attractive to potential hires who thrive on solving complex problems.
By openly communicating both progress and challenges, Oxen can connect with individuals driven by innovation and problem-solving.
Many community members are keen to offer their voluntary contributions to the Oxen project. While some aim to participate by reviewing design documentation or implementation, they frequently face challenges in obtaining the requisite information to start contributing. Conversely, the Oxen project is experiencing hurdles in attracting technical talent according to ORC-8. This paradox might need some attention and introspection. @KeeJef
Enhancing the Oxen hiring process requires a multifaceted approach. By diversifying job advertisement channels, actively seeking community assistance, and showcasing the dynamic challenges that the team is facing, Oxen can foster a more appealing and transparent relationship with potential talents. This improved connection may pave the way for a more successful recruitment process.
