Krokeit 7.0 finds thousands of duplicate files, hit select all, select Delete and it results in "failed to remove 4698 items". Unfortunately that's a pretty unintuitive message, would be good at some point if Krokeit could show more details or an error code to help fix the issue.

Luckily I knew Czkawka 6.1.0 had a more detailed interface so I tried it, same result when I hit delete however it provided "reason ⁨Access is denied. (os error 5)⁩"

I have checked the following, all drives have current user access set under Security options and have even set the current user as Owner. Current user is part of Administrative group anyway.
I have run both exe's by right-click 'Run as Admin'.
I have disabled Windows Security, all anti-virus and app protection disabled, even added exceptions for both applications.

Still achieved same result.

Terminal output (optional):
Not using Terminal Windows GUI.

I can't locate any error log or debug, Krokiet didn't even throw an error code.

  • Czkawka/Krokiet version: Krokeit 7.0.0 & Czkawa 6.1.0
  • OS version: Windows 11 Home - Version 23H2 - Build 22631.4169
  • Installation method: Downloaded latest release GUI

If you click the "Text" tab on the far right above the version number near the bottom, it will display the error info for each file. However, every time you do a scan, that log will be cleared from the previous.

Is this drive a local or a network drive and of the same filesystem?

Good to know but without coming here and logging the problem and you explaining that, would have had no idea - there was no popup or info msg to say that there was even an error all I know is it it failed to delete the files. At least change it to say "failed to delete, click on the text tab above version number for more details"..

Local drives only, have also checked and confirmed all items within drives are not marked as "read only" they should have full write permissions and I can also can cut/paste and delete anything manually with no errors or issues
