Highlight Trim/Extend plane of intersection

Feature description

When using the Trim/Extend tool the rubber band highlight only highlights the length of the cutting/intersecting segment however it seems that the tool cuts and intersects with an infinite plane/line created by the selected segment.
If this was made obvious with a rubber band style similar to the advanced digitizing snapping to common angles the potential uses of the tool would be much more obvious. Here is a mock up of what I am imagining.
