Content gap: Translations #89
Comments
Hello, Lords of the Docs ! As I was about to open another issue on this matter, may I ask here what's the status of Translations for all the great contents shared here under this organization ? I'm interested and tempted to work on French translation, but would rather not start on the wrong foot at the wrong place ! Thanks in advance for your answers and consideration TY |
Just to clarify, the goal here was not to enable the content in this org for translation but to document that aspect. The source of the content is Asciidoc and translating Asciidoc content proved to be quite challenging for some projects. For starters, you can have a look at a Fedora effort to translate content in Antora-managed Asciidoc to other languages: https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/translations-scripts/ HTH. |

Not sure I get it then 🤔
Does it mean that nothing is to be expected from RH on this front and that
another org has/is free to take charge ?

Quite challenging indeed, compañeros over at @LinuxCNC can witness !
But with the help of po4a and great support from its devs, we may have
managed to build a toolchain with Weblate.
Resulting translated docs should hopefully be first published before long...

Oh, nice reference ! Thanks for pointing me to it 🙏

OK.
I'm still at "strategic planning" stage for my docs translation & writing
project, will get back here when settled as (at least some) RH guides will
definitely be part of it...
Thanks for your answers and again for sharing these most valuable resources
with the world. May be someday the ISG will also be freely accessible... :)

Pardon my ignorance but what's ISG? |

Pardon _me_ :)
ISG = IBM Style Guide

The guide should discuss the aspect of translations in the community documentation project management.
