Extension to #2, could evolve multiple models (e.g. starting from different initial layouts) in parallel.

For example, there are 12 distinguishable assignments of 4 input sets to the "Ellipses4" layout:

and 4 for the "Circles Diamond" layout:

Training outcomes can vary based on these initial positions.
