Why did you join Sktime's mentorship program?
To contribute meaningful work to the open-source community and gain a strong foundational understanding of software development best practices that I can apply in industry upon completion.

What topics are you working on?
Presently, I am tackling a rework of GridSearch (sktime/sktime#6708) and implementing a few new models for Sktime (sktime/sktime#6446).

What are your learning goals?
Probably too many 😅 I am interested in growing in the following areas:

• API design and change management
• Debugging and designing/refactoring test suites
• OOP best practices (namely as they pertain to class inheritance and delegation)
• Third-party model (PyTorch, HuggingFace, etc.) integration into Sktime

What's next for you after the mentorship program?
Become a senior contributor for Sktime and continue to grow my skills as a developer by working on more and more challenging features for Sktime.
