Open Data Manchester is a not-for-profit that was formed in 2010 from a diverse group of open data advocates, supporting people, communities and organisations to understand and use data that is about them and their communities.

Whether working in partnership or on standalone programmes, we promote good data practice through expert advice, strong advocacy, participatory events, state-of-the-art research, technical support and interactive training.

Profits from our commercial work go into furthering the aims of the organisation through working with communities. We host events and create resources designed to help more people understand data, how it affects their lives and how they can use it for positive change.

Open 3P Banner

In 2021 we started work on Open 3P, and released the first version of the open standard for packaging data in August 2022. Over the years we have worked with hundreds of organisations and hundreds of individual to create the world's open standard for exchanging data for all actors within the packaging value chain, across all geographies and all jurisdictions.

Open Data Manchester has dedicated thousands of hours to developing the standard, transforming it into its current form: a straightforward, open standard for exchanging data about packaging. This free-to-use standard is crafted and upheld by a committed team of industry experts on behalf of the packaging sector.

Now, if Open 3P helps you save time and money, you might consider supporting us by becoming a sponsor of our work. Sponsorships allow us to make it even better, by funding workshops, events and research to aid in understanding the importance of packaging, the impact it has throughout the chain and the environment.
