Hi ๐ - thank you for considering supporting my work!
While I like to contribute to a variety of open source projects, my biggest project is Sage - the fastest proteomics search and quantification tool.
A significant portion - including the most popular and widely used - of existing proteomics tools are closed source and non-free software, even those developed in academia. I believe that open source software is crucial for scientific research, especially for a field as dependent on identification algorithms as proteomics.
Sage is proof that despite ~20 years of work on proteomics software, there is still room for significant performance improvements - and that state of the art tools can be open source and free. My goal is to continue to improve Sage's capabilities, performance, and tooling.
While Sage contains unit and integration tests, there is not yet a suite of tests run on full-sized datasets. Your sponsorship will contribute to building an automated testing pipeline that runs on the cloud (AWS isn't free!) so that Sage's performance and stability is tracked over time. Sage is built in my free time, and your support means a lot ๐
