Welcome! You probably landed on this page because I have a project that piqued your interests. Maybe you even find that project useful. If so, awesome, keep using it. I make these projects for myself, and am pleased others find these worthwhile too.
You're free to but never required to chip in to eliminate any financial drain a project may have. Or you can share some of the value that code I've written generated for you.
For those curious, I've broken down some ongoing costs of projects.
PDX Tools
I'm the creator and main developer behind PDX Tools, which is an in browser analysis engine for Europa Universalis IV (EU4) saves, as well as lower level APIs that other projects can use to parse or convert files to other formats. Running the site involves:
- Application Database
- Leaderboard Database
- API Server
- File Storage
- CDN
- Domain Name
- Game purchases to ensure support
With these costs covered it will be feasible to create more features that would be more expensive to implement (require more processing power / more storage), and allow all users to benefit from these features.
Tools
I've also authored several tools over the years:
- dness: a dynamic dns client. It would be nice to not need to worry about paying for domain names to test out providers or need to purchase membership.
- OhmGraphite: a windows service that reports hardware metrics to a database. I'd like to acquire different hardware to ensure that different combinations work, as right now I can only test on limited hardware. Additional hardware would be useful for me to document over on sff.life
- boxcars: a rocket league replay parser. With each patch, rocket league can break every parser, it's important to always keep up with the latest version.
