Description of the bug

I have noticed this issue with Sublime Text on macOS intermittently for probably several months at least, though currently with build 4180 on macOS 15.0.1. The mouse will rapidly flicker between the pointer cursor and the text selection cursor as it is moved. I believe this has been observed since at least Jan 2022 given this previous forum post.

Here is my own screen recording (the recording was not in safe mode, but I have reproduced it in safe mode and with a completely fresh install and cleared ~/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text, and historically across multiple macOS installs, versions, and devices).

ST4-pointer-flicker.mp4

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start ST in safe mode
  2. Make sure ST is focused
  3. Move the mouse over the ST window

Expected behavior

The mouse does not flicker.

Actual behavior

The mouse flickers rapidly when moving.

Sublime Text build number

4180

Operating system & version

macOS 15.0.1

(Linux) Desktop environment and/or window manager

I've never been able to reproduce this, on multiple different macs. Does it happen all the time? Do you perhaps have a 3rd party app that could be causing this? Does it still happen after reboot?

So I tried closing everything in my menu bar and apps one-by-one, and I think (unless I missed something) what made a difference was quitting a full screen app (in this case iA Writer, but I experienced this before I used iA writer when I had other apps in full screen - sometimes I think some of the fullscreens were ST itself!). I think actually in the past I've suspected similarly (though I forgot this time until you prompted me). Interestingly when I start up iA Writer again and put it into full screen, the bug doesn't start - it seems to be stochastic when it starts and then really hard to get to stop. I'll restart shortly and see if I have any reproducibility to share.

The same thing is happening to me. I've changed cursor styles with no change.
I haven't done "all the things" to test this yet, but it's super annoying.
M1 Pro, Sonoma 14.7
Sublime build 4180
Multiple displays/desktops.

...5 days later
And now it's not. It happened when I wasn't looking. Not when I was closing other programs looking for the conflict. ???
