Peculiar vowel sign combination in (e.g.) Luke 22:27 #48
Comments
This issue was discovered by a regexp search for the pattern [\x{0A3E}-\x{0A4C}]{2,} |
Thank you David for sharing the regexp pattern to find repeated vowel marks. It looks to me the word ਟਹਿਲੂਏ is the right one as it returns a number of result in a google search, while the first one didn't return any. |
It's important to fix all the similar occurrences of invalid vowel [or other] sign combinations. My analysis of counted glyphs is a further way of looking for these problems. See also issue #49 |
Corrected |
Following Joshy's merge #81 earlier today, there are still 30 matches to the regexp [\x{0A3E}-\x{0A4C}]{2,} i.e. The recent fixes have reduced the number by 13 so far, equivalent to 30% of the previous total 43. Still some way to go, friends. |
I have just edited the Subject to make it clear that Luke 22:27 was but one example of this type of anomaly. |
See my recent comments in issue #83 to help you find all the locations. |
Luke 22:27 corrected, remaining to be corrected |
The verse reads:
The word ਟਹਿੁਲੂਏ contains GURMUKHI VOWEL SIGNS I and U consecutively.
This is a peculiar vowel sign combination in the Gurmukhi script.
I suspect second of these vowel signs is a typo.
The word ਟਹਿਲੂਏ (without the U) means servants.
