The basic idea is a separate window which shows the number of times a word is used in a scene/chapter/book, along with how big a percentage the number is of the total amount of words used in the relevant scope. I don't think this matters for notes.
The left side of the window could contain a listing of all scenes/chapters and the user could select one or more components from the book(s) and the right side of the window would display information about it. Another way is to have this window select-able as a right-click option in the project tree. The user could then select the items he'd want to index (one or multiple) and select the option in the pop-up menu. The window would then be displayed as usual.
This would be helpful to detect words which are overused. If the amount of words needed to be analyzed becomes too big, a progress bar could be displayed along with a cancel button. If the cancel button is pressed, the window simply closes and the writer is left unsatisfied by his own volition. :)
As a side note:
there's also a potential extension of this feature; how often which words are used how often at the start of a sentence. This could be helpful to the writer in finding words used too frequently at the start of a sentence. Reusing the same word at the start of a sentence is a common mistake among beginning writers. This could for example be a different tab of the word count window.
