Dupe Check

Describe the solution you'd like?

Gnome-terminal has a vertical selection feature -- if you hold ctrl + shift and make a selection using the mouse, it will select a rectangular region of output. This is a very convenient feature with various usecases:

  • you may copy a content of a diff file without the need to remove the "-"/"+" signs afterwards
  • you may copy a part of Python code, YAML document or other text which is sensitive to tabulations
  • it allows bulk processing of a part of some regular data, i.e. logs
  • it allows working with tables
    ...and many other uses

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
