Soundboard and Live Audio effects with VSTs
Soundboard:
Here I explain how to set up the soundboard for voicemeeter macros.
-
Press the User Switch Button (Mixer)
The bottom row of buttons should turn white.
-
Open "User2.xml" in a text editor that can mass search and rename
-
Search for "%username% and replace it with your computer username
(I may make a script to do all this automatically soon)
-
Create a folder called "MacroSounds" in \Voicemeeter
-
Add up to 8 sounds for the 8 buttons. Each file must be in the format "sound x.mp3" where x is the button number 1-8
Live Audio effects with VSTs
Want to use more than just Voicemeeter's (kind of trash) reverb and delay? Here, I will explain how to use any VST in your signal chain! For this I will be using Cantabile 3 as a lightweight VST host, however you can use anything else with that functionality as the priceable is the same.
-
Open Cantabile. I have conveniently set the second "start app (<)" button on the Launchpad to open it, so you can just press that instead if you like.
-
Pressing this button will also press the "Toggle In1/2" button, just to save us a step.
-
Go to "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Audio Engine" and set the audio driver to "ASIO - Voicemeeter Potato Insert Virtual ASIO".
-
Then go to "Audio Ports" and create two stereo output ports.
-
For the first port, name it something like "no-fx" and set its left and right channels to "In 1".
-
For the second port, name it something like "fx" and set its left and right channels to "In 2".
-
Now create a stereo input port and name it something like "Mic". Set its channels to "In 1".
-
From here, connect "Mic" to both "fx" and "no-fx". Then insert your VSTs on the fx chain.
