Purpose

This is generalizable to the entire project.

There main objectives of a patent search are the following:

• To generate design ideas
• To not reinvent the wheel
• To gain protection against patent trolls by deliberately not creating new works.

Methodology

1. Patent search via USPTO patent search: http://patft.uspto.gov/
2. Get the relevant patents and get the entire patent information via Google's patent search: http://google.com/patents
3. Put all patents in the Zotero library: https://www.zotero.org/groups/free_medical_hardware/items/collectionKey/UWVQ29US
4. Flag relevant patents: https://www.zotero.org/groups/free_medical_hardware/items/collectionKey/UWVQ29US/tag/Relevant
